HOUSE BASKET
FULL SCALE PATTERN

This pattern is is designed to be a full scale pattern for the crafts hobbyist. The author makes no warranties or representations as to the ease of assembly or suitability of the finished project for any intended purpose.

PREPARATION:

1. Obtain the materials listed on the Material/Parts List.
   
2. Cut out the pattern on the bold (darkest) line. As this is the outline for your project, use extreme care when cutting the pattern.
   
3. Place the pattern on the board you have selected for one of your 3/4" thick end boards and trace the outline of the pattern onto the board.
   
4. Cut the board out following the pattern.
   
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4.
   
6. Mark your counter-bore hole on the inside of your end boards by placing the pattern directly over the end board, placing a brad on the hole cross-hairs and tapping with a hammer.
   
7. Drill or C'-Bore the hole to suit (Approximately 3/8" deep). Verify the depth by inserting the dowel into the holes in the end boards.
   
8. Insert the dowel handle into the end boards followed by nailing the 3/4" X 6 1/2" X 9 1/4" bottom to the end boards with 4 ea. brads per end.
   
9. Nail the side slats to the end boards using two brads per end (4 brads per slat total). (Gluing the handle, bottom and slats is optional).
   
   Note 1 - The 10 3/4" side strips may have to be adjusted, depending upon the actual thickness of your end boards or depth of your handle counter-bore.
   
   Note 2 - Use of an appropriate wood glue will increase the holding strength of the joints,  however, care must be taken not to get glue on the wood where you want a stained wood finish. Paint covers most wood glues, stain does not.
   
10. Suggested is to paint the basket white, the heart and flower boxes red, windows & grille, door knob & door trim I.D. black, roof and heart to suit. The bricks outlines can be either a darker color or black.

Comment:  The house pattern should print to full scale, however, differences in browsers sometimes effects the scale.  One option is to click on the pattern and tell the browser to View the bjaypat.gif file.  Once it is the only thing showing on your browser, you can print the drawing.  In trying this with Netscape Navigator, the scale prints correctly for the author.  Should one desire to change the scale, try pulling the GIF file into a GIF editor, either as a save as drawing or finding it in your browser cache directory and printing.  The original prints out  on an 8 - 1/2 inch X 11 inch piece of paper.  Once in an editor, it can be scaled to suit your needs. 

Additionally, when working in an editor, scale (drag) from a corner so you don't change the aspect ratio.
